Do you drink soda each day? If so, you may be interested to know that your habit may be more damaging to your body than you think. If you drink sugary soda each day, you probably know about those extra empty calories to your diet and its effect on your teeth. However, you are not safe even if you drink diet soda.
Since soda is very acidic (whether diet or not), you can weaken the delicate alkaline/ acid balance in your body, resulting in such effects as loss of bone calcium, teeth decay and stomach and intestinal weakness. An over acidic diet over time has also been shown to be a major contributor to the so called "aging" diseases.
If you like soda and do not want to give it up entirely, you might consider reducing the amount you drink to one cup a day and gradually shifting to drinking more water. Since soda is so acidic, we recommend that you consider drinking alkaline water. Even if you choose to continue drinking a lot of soda, you can drink alkaline water right after drinking soda to help re-hydrate yourself and to neutralize the acidity of the soda. You will probably feel better, and you might experience less heartburn.

Some ions are desirable (like calcium, which is good for one`s teeth and bones) and some ions are less desirable- for example- chlorine (too much chlorine ions in your water will make your water smell and taste bad).
